These frozen banana bites are a healthy frozen treat made with ripe bananas and dark chocolate. They are creamy, satisfying, and perfect for a quick dessert or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe but firm bananas, sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or avocado oil
  • Optional toppings: crushed peanuts, shredded coconut, flaky sea salt, chopped almonds, or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Peel bananas and slice into even rounds about 1/2 inch thick. Place slices on a parchment lined baking sheet without touching. Freeze for 15 to 20 minutes.
  2. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.
  3. Remove banana slices from freezer. Working quickly, dip each frozen round into melted chocolate using a fork to coat both sides. Let excess drip off, then place back on parchment lined sheet.
  4. Sprinkle desired toppings immediately before chocolate sets. Work in small batches to keep chocolate warm and bananas cold.
  5. Return tray to freezer for at least 1 hour until chocolate hardens, or 2 hours for fully frozen. Serve directly from freezer. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Notes

For best results, use bananas that are ripe but still firm. Pre-freezing the banana slices helps the chocolate adhere. Let bites sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes before serving for a creamy texture.
