An effortlessly elegant appetizer featuring creamy goat cheese, sweet fig jam, and toasted nuts on a crisp baguette round. Perfect for easy entertaining with its perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 4 ounces creamy goat cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup high-quality fig jam or preserves
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, lightly toasted
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary leaves, for garnish
  • Flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Brush lightly with olive oil. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Let cool slightly.
  2. Spread a generous layer of softened goat cheese onto each toasted bread round.
  3. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of fig jam over the goat cheese on each crostini.
  4. Just before serving, drizzle each crostini with balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with toasted nuts, fresh herbs, and a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt and pepper.

Notes

For best results, ensure goat cheese is at room temperature for easy spreading. Assemble just before serving to keep the bread crisp. Toasted bread rounds can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container.
