A creamy, make-ahead breakfast that tastes like chocolate pudding. With just five minutes of prep, oats and chia seeds transform overnight into a rich, satisfying meal that kids and adults love. Perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a jar or container, whisk together the oats, chia seeds, cocoa powder, and salt.
  2. Pour in the milk, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir or shake vigorously until completely combined and no dry pockets remain.
  3. Seal the container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
  4. Before eating, stir the oats well. Add a splash of milk if too thick. Add desired toppings and serve.

Notes

For gluten free, use certified gluten-free oats. For dairy free, use plant-based milk. To add protein, mix in a scoop of protein powder with the dry ingredients and add an extra 2-3 tablespoons of milk. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
