Instructions
- Prepare and chill Sugar Cookie Dough. Begin by making the sugar cookie dough (whether homemade or purchased from a store). Refrigerate it for a minimum of 30 minutes to ensure the dough stays in shape during baking.
- Cut-out shapes: The chilled, cooled dough over a sprayed surface. To cut the cookies, utilize a round cookie cutter and a Cookie Monster template. Press the cookies firmly to create clear forms.
- Bake and cool. Preheat your oven according to the time suggested by the dough recipe. The cookies should be baked until brown around the edge (usually about 8-10 mins). Let the cookies dry completely on a rack before decorating.
- Decoration with blue icing and cookie crusts. After the cookies are cool then, add a layer of blue royal icing to each cookie. Sprinkle cookie crumbs on the edges to create texture, imitating the Cookie Monster’s mouth. Then, add the eyes of edible over the top of the cake to finish the look.
Tips for Best Results
- Make use of parchment paper on baking sheets to keep them from sticking.
- Let the royal icing completely set before serving, or store the cookies in a safe place to ensure the designs stand up.
