Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup freshly brewed strong coffee (dark roast preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for garnish
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (whole milk for creamiest texture)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee slightly stronger than usual to balance the added milk and pumpkin.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, whisk together the pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar, and milk until smooth and warm (do not boil).
  3. Once heated, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Pour coffee into a mug, then add the pumpkin spice milk mixture. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, if desired.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use oat or almond milk. Adjust sweetener to taste. Try adding a shot of espresso for a stronger coffee kick or chill and blend for a pumpkin spice frappe.
