Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 cup milk (any kind)
  • 1/3 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, cream, and pumpkin puree. Heat until warm (not boiling).
  2. Add maple syrup or sugar, vanilla, spices, and salt. Whisk until dissolved.
  3. Simmer gently for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve if desired for smoothness.
  5. Cool completely and store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to one week.
