Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Heart-shaped candy or sprinkles
  • Optional: 1 tsp mint extract
  • Optional: 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Optional: Edible glitter or sparkling sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture.
  4. Add green gel food coloring a bit at a time until desired color is reached.
  5. Cover dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Shape chilled dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on sheets.
  8. Bake 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.
  9. Press a heart-shaped candy in the center of each cookie while warm.
  10. Cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant green without altering dough texture. Chill the dough to help cookies hold their shape and avoid overspreading.
