Instructions
Before cooking, all ingredients should be ready. It makes cooking faster and easier. You can mix ingredients faster if you prepare everything in advance.
Pour your favorite jellies into a pot set at medium heat. Stirring it frequently will prevent it from sticking or burning. Once the jelly is liquid, you can add the rest of the ingredients.
Add the vinegar and ketchup to the pot after the jelly melts. Mix all ingredients until they are combined. The vinegar will help balance out the sugar and spice in the sauce.
Add brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder. You can also add onion powder and hot sauce (if using). Mix well to ensure everything is combined. Stir frequently while letting the mixture simmer around 10 minutes. This will allow the flavors to combine and intensify.
You can add some water to your jelly-based barbecue sauce if it seems thick. If it is too thin, you can simmer it for two minutes to thicken it. If the sauce is too sweet or spicy, add more sugar or hot sauce.
If you want to use the barbecue sauce that you make from jelly, just remove it from the heat and let it cool. The barbecue sauce that you make by blending jelly can be used immediately or stored for later.
